UNITEST is a private - owned enterprise, founded
in 1990 and based in Gdańsk, Poland. In the beginning
the company's activities were concentrated on the
design and production of diagnostic measurements on
ships during sea trials. Gradually, the scope of company
activities was broadened and included the design and
installation of complete Diesel engines laboratories
for marine educational institutions.
In 1994, UNITEST has started to develop Computer Based
Training (CBT) - interactive programs for marine engineering
students and ship engineers. Presently, UNITEST Marine
Training Software package includes 28 independent
programs.
UNITEST is world leader in creation of maritime training
software and engine room simulators. Our products
are installed in 52 countries around the world. In
the near future UNITEST will increase the number of
programs it offer, first of all with application of
3D presentation.
Since 1995, our company has begun to produce full
mission engine room simulators. In 1997, the first
three engine room simulators with low speed Diesel
engines as well as Diesel generator plant were designed
and produced. In 1998, a new desktop type engine room
simulators for low and medium speed engines room were
created. In 2000 new simulator model for steam turbine
plant was developed. UNITEST MED3D, last engine room
simulator with 3D visualization, offered in hardware
and software version is related to modern engine room
controlled by computers.
UNITEST also creates interactive programs adapted
to the needs of different marine equipment manufacturers.
These programs, by using tri-dimensional techniques
of presentation, complete the operator's manuals and
allows better understanding of the equipment construction
and functioning. UNITEST constantly cooperates with
ALFA LAVAL, Sweden, Kistler, Switzerland and another
maritime manufacturers.
UNITEST is also word leader in application of virtual
reality techniques in marine engine room simulators.
Dr Leonard Tomczak, starting from beginning, is UNITEST
company owner and managing director. UNITEST staff
is based from the experts from Gdynia Maritime Academy
and Polish Navy Academy, Poland. All UNITEST product
comply with the International Convention on Standards
of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers,
1978, as amended in 1995. Certificate of Compliance
was issued by Polish Register of Shipping in Gdańsk,
Poland.
