Marine Training Software CBT Part 13

CBT 13 – Marine Training Software CBT Part 13 is now available for sale.

CBT 13 includes the following modules:

  1. Ammonia as a fuel for marine 2-stroke DF engines – Introduction.
  2. Methanol as a fuel for marine 2-stroke DF engines – Introduction course.
  3. Electronically controlled low speed diesel engines.

The first module – ‘Ammonia as a fuel for marine 2-stroke DF engines’ – discusses the transition of the maritime industry toward ammonia as a viable, carbon-free fuel for marine two-stroke dual-fuel engines to meet international decarbonization goals. It outlines the technical characteristics, production pathways, fuel system components, and operational modes of these engines, while addressing critical safety, leakage detection, and maintenance protocols necessitated by ammonia’s toxicity.

The ‘Methanol as a fuel for marine 2-stroke DF engines’ module examines the integration of methanol as a low-carbon marine fuel for two-stroke dual-fuel engines to support global shipping decarbonization efforts. It outlines the technical specifications, fuel system components, and operating modes of WinGD X-DF-M engines, while highlighting the essential safety frameworks, ventilation requirements, and operating protocols designed to manage methanol’s low flashpoint and toxicity.

Finally, the ‘Electronically Controlled Low Speed Diesel Engines’ module introduces the fundamental concepts, control systems, and key components of electronically controlled, low-speed, two-stroke marine diesel engines developed by Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD). It also provides an introduction to the X-92B Marine Engine Room Simulator developed by Unitest.
